Remember being 10, kicked back with your buds on an early Fall Saturday; laying on the golden grass under a big Cotton Wood tree listening to the chilling breeze rustle the changing leaves; the sweet scent of their distant burning pile etching your life's memory; watching the birds above, not caring about the bees...well, I've come full circle.

Winter Birds
I feed the birds, mostly of the sparrow family, but I get Quail, Blue-jay, Junco. I buy cheap feed for these, the kind that looks like pot seeds. To get the Wrens and Cardinals I have to buy much better feed, this stuff has peanuts, raisins, niger, millet & sunflower.
It's rare for me to see a Cardinal. To get a photo I have to take it from in the house through the window.

Two great meals.
Well "T" Day is over for another fleeting year. Thanksgiving is not one of my favorite holidays. I'm not a turkey lover as it's hard to cook a good one. They always seem to turn out dry and tasteless. This year was the exception. This year we cooked the bird and trimmings. I wanted ham but Barb's daughter and boyfriend were coming and wanted turkey..so be it. Appreciatively I sliced and it looked like my fears were unfounded, the juices poured. We had all the trimmings, dressing, smashed potatoes, & gravy (another seldom-ly good item). There was string bean casserole & yams; I prefer sweet potatoes. It was excellent and I was glad I could hand out honest compliments. The biggest disappointment of the day, gabby wasn't here. This was her dads Thanksgiving year.
The second dinner was Friday at Barb's brothers house. I was looking forward to this turkey feast as Pippa is the arguably best cook in the family. I was not disappointed, everything was tasty. There were six at the table and one in the crib. Steve's son his wife and new born were there. The baby appreciated our day together, filling the air with coos and giggles, a good baby. Later we were joined by Steve's daughter and her three kids, who were on there way home from Christmas tree cutting.
So another one under the belt. Now, on to Christmas...

Today is my first blog to Reds Daze.
I will use this blog for daily/weekly thoughts and ramblings about any and all subjects.
I hope anyone stumbling across my blog will follow and post. Feel free to plagiarize anything I post.
I will start with a poem I wrote:
Ode to Daisy
She was my Daisy, the love of my life,
rise early, meet the day, feel no strife.
Out the door, down the street, breakfast on run,
alfalfa fields, windrow trees shading sun.
We traveled afar, my Daisy and me,
scouring the path, scanning the tree.
Along river banks, frogs leaping approach,
dragonflies hovering, oh so close.
We lay side by side, while song birds ballad,
lazy white images, adrift on sky blue palette.
Teeth stained indigo, with chokecherry lunch,
ever changing pictures, just out of touch.
Homeward bound, days end, thoughts a blur,
she‘s true to my side, though many have tried her.
They all say she’s sweet, quite a provider,
She’s Daisy to me, but some call her Red Ryder…
